    A Central London district and is to the Southwark London Borough's north-west is Southwark (/ˈsʌ ərk/ SUDH-ərk). Three main tube stations are in the area: Southwark nearby, Borough, and one which with a railway station that is major is combined, close to the river, London Bridge. The two boroughs were combined with the Camberwell Metropolitan Borough in 1965 to form the Southwark London Borough that is current. The City obtained control from King Edward III of the manor next to the south side of London Bridge known as the Southwark Town (called the Guildable Manor latterly-i.e., the tolls and taxes place) in 1327.

    Southwark Cathedral, a priory founded a cathedral in 1905, noted for its Merbecke Choir, is another landmark. Outside of the control of the City of London and was a haven for criminals and free traders, who would conduct trades and sell goods outside the City's Livery Companies regulation, was Southwark. Southwark's first playhouse theatre, The Rose, opened in 1587.
